When planning a birthday party around different shapes and colors, there are lots of easy ideas for decorating. Follow these tips in decorating your kids birthday party that has a shapes and color theme. Using balloons in colors of the rainbow and strategic placement of paper shapes turns any room into a bright and festive place to party.

  • Nothing says celebrate like a room full of balloons, so fill the party space with balloons in a bunch of different colors. Let kids take one in their favorite color home.
  • In place of a traditional "Happy Birthday" banner, make your own garland from paper shapes. Cut shapes out of paper in different colors and patterns. Tape or staple ribbon to the back, and string garland around the room.
  • Set a colorful table just for the kids. Use a roll of white drawing paper for a tablecloth and large paper shapes as placemats. For place cards, cut out shapes from colored paper, and insert between two crayons tied together with ribbon. Use a container of crayons, pencils and paint as a centerpiece.
