Decorations don't typically play a role in tailgate parties, but this is no ordinary tailgate! Celebrate the birthday boy, girl, guy or gal with a handmade banner that you can hang across the back of your vehicle.

Our how-to will help you craft something special and you an use whatever colors to customize to the special guest's favorite team.

How To Make an Easy Customized Birthday Banner:

Step 1: Cut a sheet of decorative scrapbook paper into a 12 inch by 6 inch rectangle.

Step 2: Make a pencil mark on the reverse side of the paper along the top edge at 1inch, 6 inches, and 11 inches. Mark the bottom edge of the paper at 3 1/2 inches and 8 1/2 inches as shown. Draw lines between the marks at the top of the paper and the bottom to form triangles.

Step 3: Cut each of the triangle shapes out and glue to a sheet of colored cardstock.

Step 4: Cut around the triangle shape, leaving a 1/4 inch cardstock border around all edges. Use decorative scissors to create a fun edge.

Step 5: After each pennant is cut out, punch two small holes at each edge of the top of pennant and thread ribbon or twine through, leaving just a small space between each pennant.

Step 6: Tie short lengths of ribbon between each pennant and dress up with any embellishments you might like. We stuck letters on a few of the pennants to form the birthday boy's name.
