Decoupage Treasure Box

The art of paper collage is simple if you have an all-in-one glue and glaze medium. All you have to do is chose images that appeal to your gift recipient and decoupage your design on to an item such as a small wood treasure box.

Supplies

Wooden box
Container of Modge Podge
Foam brushes

Note: Pick up all of these items at your local craft store, or search local antique shops for a unique wooden box.

Directions

Step 1: Prepare the box by painting or simply cleaning it.

Step 2: Find images suit the style of the item you want to decorate and cut them out. If necessary, scan images into a computer program and scale them to the size of the item that they will be applied to.

Step 3: Use the all-in-one decoupage medium to glue the images on to the box. After it dries, apply a coat over the images. Follow the manufacturer instructions regarding the application of coats and drying time for best results.

Step 4: For a bonus prize, include a handmade necklace or piece of jewelry in the treasure box for the gift recipient.
