When you feature a dessert table at any celebration it inevitably becomes the star of the party if done well.
It's the place in your party space where the theme truly comes to life! And let’s admit… dessert is ALWAYS the “icing on the cake”, so why not showcase your recipes in a way where all items are visibly pleasing to the eye and consistent with your theme?
For a recent fundraiser, we served 5 different items: oreo truffle pops, cupcakes, decorated sugar cookies, banana pudding shooters and chocolate covered pretzels. To create the most dynamic, engaging and functional dessert table, we followed these simple rules.
In order for the items to gain optimal exposure, I took two large wooden crates and placed one on each back corner. This freed two of the 5 items from the tabletop.
Incorporate Coordinated Colors
I also used a yellow cake stand in my dessert display and it served as the centerpiece to the table. The display needed a pop of yellow in the center, so this served as the perfect piece. This stand was elevated by an old, aluminum cake stand covered by bunched up seersucker fabric. The yellow cake stand held the cupcakes, which then freed up another item from the tabletop.
Aim for Fun, Yet Functional
Now that three of the items were elevated, this gave me room to spread the sugar cookies and banana pudding shooters out over the tabletop giving the table an overall visually pleasing and clean look and a nice display of amazingly delicious treats!
