Follow these activity tips for a Diego and Dora theme birthday party your guests will have a great time!
Hire a Diego and Dora character to come to your party. Have these characters play games or work with the children on an arts and crafts project so that each of your guests feels equally involved.
English and Spanish Games. Since Diego and Dora speak both English and Spanish in their shows, play games that involve the characters speaking both of the languages with your guests. I found a great Diego character at Aaron's Happy Kids and Entertainment. From his balloon blowing skills to his fun face painting activities, Diego was such a great hit at my party that the kids actually walked him to the door and waved goodbye until he was completely out of sight!
CAUTION: Remind your entertainer that it is imperative that they don't take off their costume at the end of the party until they are fully out of sight from all of the children. You don't want to spoil the fun time your guests had with the entertainer by having your entertainer come out of character.
Diego and Dora DVD. Putting on a DVD at the end of your party is always a great option for helping wind down kids before they go home. You can choose to show either an episode from Go, Diego, Go! or Dora the Explorer, just make sure that the specific episode you choose has both of the characters in it.
Have a Diego or Dora soundtrack playing in the background of your party. Hearing the voices of the shows' character will make your guests feel as if they are a part of the show during your party. You can purchase these soundtracks at stores such as Toys"R"Us and Target.
Design your own backpack activity. Set up a crafts table where each child can decorate their own backpack. Both Diegos' and Dora's backpack are key characters in their shows, so having each child design their own backpack will be a hit with your guests. When the party is over, each child will be able to bring home their backpack as a souvenir from your party! Party companies, such as Oriental Trading Company, have inexpensive designable backpacks that you can buy in bulk for your guests to design at your party.
Make your own play-doh. Not only is play-doh always a favorite activity among kids, but it allows them to be creative at the same time. Supply cookie-cutters shaped like Diego and Dora so that your guests can make their own play-doh characters.
TIP - if you are having your party inside, have each of your guests use the Diego and Dora cookie-cutters to make a play-doh Diego or Dora character out of play-doh. After they have made their play-doh creation, bake the play-doh characters in the oven for 5-8minutes at 200 degrees until they are hard. This will be a perfect item to put in each of your guests goody bag when the party is over and will serve as a reminder of the fun party you threw!
