For all kids' parties, it is important to make sure that the food you are serving is healthy, while remaining appealing to the children as well. Try to keep in theme with your costume party by serving food with images of the characters, such as Diego and Dora, on the food itself. Having Diego and Dora on the food will not only make the food more appealing to your guests, but will help reinforce the theme of your party. Additionally, since each child's parents were also invited to the party, it is important to always serve adult food as well!
CAUTION -if you are making your own food, always have extra supplies as a back-up in case a problem occurs! For example, when I was baking the grilled cheese sandwiches for my Diego and Dora party, I accidently left them in the oven for too long and completely burned the tops of each bun! Luckily, I had bought extra cheese and buns in case something happened and was able to fix the problem make more sandwiches before the party even started!
DO-IT-YOURSELF: Get creative and customize your own water bottles by stripping the bottles of their original labels and replacing them with custom Diego and Dora labels to match your party.

Locate a specialty bakery in your area that can make Diego and Dora cupcakes for your party, such as CRUMBS. If you don't want to spend the extra money on these custom cupcakes, head to a local grocery store and buy plain cupcakes that you can then top with Diego and Dora toppers. You can buy both Diego and Dora party toppers online. For my Diego and Dora party, Liv' s mother and aunt, Letizia and Lizette, made amazing "Diego Rainforest cupcakes" by baking vanilla cupcakes and decorating them with a fun green frosting! For a fun addition to top them off, they put Diego and Dora rings on the top of each cupcake!
TIP - get creative and make the color of all of the food you are serving consistent with the theme of your party. When I threw my Diego and Dora Party last year, I made sure that all of the food I served was either blue or red. For example, I had bowls of red and blue M&Ms, strawberries and blueberries, red and blue cupcakes, and served red fruit punch and blue lemonade as refreshments.
