Supplies:
- Shiny silver cardstock
- Background color cardstock for the actual invitation
- Other cardstock in the colors of your dinner party's color scheme
- White cardstock for the plate
- Bone folder to create a perfect crease in the invitation
- Scissors
- 3 inch circular hole punch
- Thick double stick tape that elevates the item when used. (" thick or so)
Instructions:
1. Cut each background piece of cardstock down the middle (the cut should be made on the 11.5" side of the paper)
2. Fold each of the resulting two papers in half so they are tented like a card. Use a bone folder to get the most professional-looking fold.
3. Use the circular hole punch to cut out a white circle that will serve as the dinner plate.
4. Use the colored (or patterned) paper to cut out a long rectangular piece of paper that will serve as the napkin. This can either be placed underneath the plate like a napkin folded in half (that hangs off the edge of the table), or folded in half again and placed under the utensils to the right of the plate.
5. Use the computer to create a template of 2" wide by 2.5" long rectangles that will serve as the menus. Type "Menu" at the top (the 2" shorter section) of the rectangle, and add details in about the menu for the evening. Print out the mini menus and cut them out.
6. Find an image online of a fork and knife that can be used as an outline for your invitation's silverware shapes. Resize the image so the silverware is about 2.5 inches tall and print it out on the shiny silver cardstock. Cut the fork and the knife out using the scissors.
7. Use the computer to create a fake place card that will sit above the plate on the invitation. Type either "You're Invited..." or the guest's name, and print out onto the cardstock & use scissors to cut each place card out.
8. Assemble the invitation using the thick double stick tape. First add the napkin, then the plate, then the menu on top. Each item will pop off the invitation a little bit more to give it depth and make it look like a real table setting. Finally add the knife and fork on either side of the plate and the place card at the top.
