DIY Bridal Shower Heart Toppers

When customizing a bridal shower it's always important to pay close attention to detail. While you can certainly order or purchase premade party decorations or favors, we're always looking for DIY ideas that keep costs down and also add a personal touch to the party.

We've already told you how we use food as a part of our party decor, so now, we're elaborating on one of those DIY ways we've found to pull that off.

It doesn't get much easier or simpler than DIY food toppers. You've seen the fancy and expensive baubles in stores, packaged with just 8 pieces when you need more like 50, but did you ever think of making your own?

I wanted to dress up my mini bridal shower bites as well as hold them together so I made heart shaped food picks. The heart shape is a universal one that can be used in any bridal theme party - just customize the color or pattern for the paper you use to fit with your particular bridal shower theme.

This same technique can also be used with other shapes as well!

Supplies:

Scrapbook paper

scissors or heart shaped craft punch

toothpicks

tape

Directions:

I cut these paper heart toppers out the old fashioned way by folding the paper lengthwise and drawing half the heart shape along the crease line, but if you've got a lot of these to make, consider investing in a heart-shaped paper puncher. It may run you $10 - $15, but it'll be worth it just for these toppers and you can also use it to embellish your bridal shower with more DIY paper heart decorations.

To do this the old fashioned way, though cut out the heart shapes so when you open up the crease you have a symmetrical heart.

Then, once you have your heart shapes, place a toothpick on the back side of the heart and tape or glue it to the paper. Insert into your party bites and that's it!
