One DIY party decoration that will never disappoint at a celebration full of kids? A cake pop centerpiece! Our Expert, Rachel Hollis, always tells us how much kiddies love anything on a stick, so we took her advice and came up with this easy centerpiece for our kindergarten graduation party.
What's so fantastic about this idea is how simple it is to make and also, how accessible the supplies for it are; we bet you'll have almost everything already on hand. Showcase your dessert and decorate your table all in one shot!
We made our cake pop centerpiece with our primary color scheme in mind - red wrapping, blue ribbon and yellow candy garnish - but you can get as creative as you'd like with yours!
shoe box of desired size - just the bottom
wrapping paper in party colors
ribbon (or other decorative embellishments)
personalized M&Ms in party colors
Step 1: Before you start, measure out your Styrofoam so that it fits in the shoe box you'll be using. Put it to the side.
Step 2: Next, measure out an area on your wrapping paper that will cover your shoe box - just like wrapping a present, but ensure there's enough on all sides to fold over edges.
Step 3: Cut the wrapping paper at the desired size, then wrap the box.
You can do this part however you like - we folded the paper over the longer sides first so they had a clean look and there was less work with a scissor, but you can get a clean look all around by cutting squares from each corner so there's no folding involved.
Step 4: Once the box is wrapped, decorate it - we tied a simple satin ribbon in our color scheme to it.
Step 5: Place your sized Styrofoam in the box. Then, pop in your cake pops.
Step 6: Finally, cover up that ugly Styrofoam with some fun, colorful and personalized M&M candies to complete your centerpiece and give your table a customized touch.
