Mardi Gras is one of those holidays we love to celebrate, but every year it seems we're stuck with what to do with all those beaded necklaces parties produce. While you can certainly pack them away and use your beads for a celebration the next year, we recommend getting crafty and finding a more creative use for them instead.
Taking the DIY approach with your Mardi Gras beads can offer up quite a few decorations you can use all year long or for other occasions. All it takes is a bit of creativity to make it happen.
Check out the ideas we're loving and making with our leftover Mardi Gras beads!

We love this first DIY Mardi Gras idea from Rust & Sunshine because it's a perfect way to reuse those famous beads no matter the occasion. Homemade beaded coasters give your dinner or cocktail party a bit of flash without going overboard. Best of all, the tutorial makes it easy to combine hues, so you can use green, gold and purple for Mardi Gras, or go the pink and red route for Valentine's Day or the red, white and blue direction for 4th of July or...well, you get the idea!
While the perfect party dress is always in order, creative party nails have become quite the rage. Fabulous and fun, Mardi Gras offers up the perfect chance to be a bit more outlandish than normal with your nail polish and design. We found this look via Instagram and think it's the perfect inspiration if you're looking for a last-minute way to celebrate and have some mini Mardi Gras beads on hand. (Let us know if you know the artist behind this fab look!)
Last year, our contributor Emma Haynes crafted a few DIY decorations using leftover Mardi Gras beads and this embellished candle holder was one of our favorite projects. Though inexpensive and easy to make, the candle holders make quite a statement when lit and scattered in clusters around a party space. We liked them so much so, that we continue to use our DIY votives to this day!

This beaded wreath from Sew in Love is a great DIY decoration for Mardi Gras, but it's also a clever way to repurpose any necklaces you may have from the celebration for another celebration. It make take a bit of time to make, but once you do, you've got yourself a great looking decoration for your door that will most definitely make quite the statement.
