What better way to set the tone for a glamorous dinner party at home than with a sparking menu card? This simple craft will add some glitz to your table and give guests a fun keepsake to take home, too - for a whole lot less than you think.
Supplies
clear plastic frame
acrylic faux jewels – assorted
glue gun and hot glue sticks
cardstock/ paper and markers/printer for menus
scissors
ruler
Directions
Step 1: Select your jewels and the pattern you would like them in. Using one color or alternating between two will keep your motif from being too flashy, but feel free to go wild if you want! Remember that that the larger the jewels, the less visible room you’ll have for your menu card. (These can also be prepared as place card holders.)
Step 2: Rest your frame flat on the edge of a table or some books. Starting in one corner, add a small drop of hot glue to your first stone, and affix it to the frame. (Always use caution when working with hot glue.) Continue around the frame with jewels in your desired pattern. Set aside
Step 3: Prepare your menu or place cards. If writing by hand, cut the cardstock down to the size of the frame, and mark off the space that will be visible inside the jewels with your ruler. Write your menu on each card. You can also do this with a computer and printer -- set the margins in your document to the available space of the frame and cut down after printing.
Step 4: Slide your cards into the frame and set on your table. Guests can take them home and fill the frame with a fun picture to remember the evening.
