Cupcake toppers add a touch of charm and childlike whimsy to even the plainest desserts. These inexpensive, yet charming neon pom-pom toppers are no different in their attempts to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Bright, colorful pom-poms are easy to come by at just about any local craft or hobby shop, and once affixed to a couple of toothpicks, these little pouf balls become and instant dessert pick-me-up. Perfect for kids birthday parties, picnics, or any time a little splash of color and fun go a long way.

Supplies

Toothpicks
Small pom-poms in assorted colors
Kraft glue

Directions

Step 1: Attach the pom-poms to the flat side of your toothpick by dabbing with the tiniest amount of glue – you don’t want to put too much, otherwise you’ll get a big glob that distracts from the pom pom went placed on display.

Hold the pom pom and toothpick together between your thumb and forefinger for a few minutes until the glue begins to fuse to the pom-pom.

Step 2: Repeat this process for as many pom poms as you’ll need.

Step 3: When done and ready to use, group your pom-pom picks into bunches of four or five and press gently into the tops of plain or frosted cupcakes. You can even use more of these little guys to decorate a whole cake.

We don’t just stop at desserts with these pom poms, either – consider skewering your party appetizers on them or to use as a drink garnish by lying across a cocktail glass rim. If you’re careful, you can rinse the picks off and reuse for another celebration
