This summer ditch the boring old plasticware that has been putting a damper on your table décor for years now and liven up your place settings with a touch of wooden whimsy and bright boost of color.

Whether you are packing a picnic or throwing a child’s birthday party, these eye-catching, one-of-a-kind utensils add instant flare to any meal. Neon hues are the pick of the summer and are both stylish and playful when they make their way to the party table.

Mix and matched prints and patterns take things to a new level of fun, turning even the simplest salad into a colorful celebration all of its own.

Supplies

Wooden spoons, forks and knives
Non-toxic paints in bright, neon colors
Masking tape
Scissors
Paint brushes

Directions

Step 1: Begin by taping off the handles of your utensils using narrow strips of the masking tape. Create a chevron pattern by overlapping two strips to for a point, or angle thicker strips for a interesting stripe pattern.

Step 2: Once tape is in place as you like it, begin painting the handles using thin, even brush strokes.

Step 3: Allow paint to dry thoroughly before removing tape and use a small brush for any touch-ups you may need to perfect your design!
