Dress up your home for the season with this fun and easy holiday wreath. Wow your guests with something beyond the common evergreen boughs and holly berries wreath.

This crafty wreath is the perfect way to start your Christmas decorating and crafting for this year’s holiday season. It’s a great project to work on with kids too. (Then use any leftover candies for some of the holiday baking you have on your to-do list!)

Best of all, this wreath couldn’t be easier. With just a few supplies needed, this one is a snap.

Supplies

a Styrofoam wreath form (from any craft store)
round peppermint candies
green duct tape
wide ribbon in red or green
acrylic enamel spray paint
glue gun

Directions

Cover the Styrofoam wreath completely with green duct tape. I found it works well to use separate pieces of tape placed one at a time with slight overlap around the wreath.

Attach unwrapped peppermint candies with a dab of glue. Start at the inside of the wreath and add candies in concentric circles, working your way out. Place candies close together, but not touching. (You want the green duct tape to show through a little bit). Let the glue dry completely.

Spray the finished wreath with a layer of acrylic enamel spray paint, carefully following all the instructions on the can. (This step is optional, though highly recommended if you want the wreath to last for more than one season. Plus it will give it a nice shiny finish.)

Hang the wreath with a wide loop of red or green ribbon, tied in a bow at the top.

If you have kiddos helping with this one, a perfect job for them is to unwrap the candies while you work with the hot glue gun. All of you can snack on a few extra candies as you work.

Hang Your Peppermint Candy Christmas Wreath

Now, where to hang your creation? You can always stick to the standard front door display...

...but feel free to get creative too! Try one of these other suggestions:

Over a mirror
In a window
Over a fireplace mantle
Or even on a bare wall. This is especially cute if you hang an empty frame around it. A solid black frame would look great around this bright wreath!

The end result, wherever you choose to make your display? A sweet welcome to your holiday guests and your family.
