More Party Ideas

After seeing a very cool custom painting in an interior design magazine recently, I was inspired to create my own wall art to bring a more personal touch to my living room. I really wanted to create a piece of art that summarized our family values so I designed my own piece of wall art.

Creating a custom piece is not as hard as you may think, but you do need to have patience as this took a few days to complete! I loved the fact that it was imperfect and raw. Such a great piece to add to a formal living room!

What you'll need:

A wooden board
White primer paint
Vinyl letters
Black oil based paint
Paint brushes
Roller brush
Tweezers

Directions

Step 1: Cover your space with newspaper and place the wooden board down on top. Using a roller brush, paint the wood with your white primer paint. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 2: Adhere the vinyl letters to the wooden board. This part can take several hours depending on the size of your board and how much you want to say!

Step 3: Use the black oil based paint and with a brush, paint over all of your letters. Because I used a thick oil paint, it took several days for this to dry.

Step 4: Once you are sure the paint has set completely, use a tweaser and carefully peel back your vinyl letters.

And viola!
