In case your kids haven’t yet made it clear -- Doc McStuffins is a new show from Disney Junior that’s a big hit with the younger group.
The show is all about a little six-year-old girl named Doc McStuffins who, inspired by her mom, a professional doctor, pretends to be a doctor herself and heals stuffed animals and broken toys with a magical stethoscope in her backyard clinic.
Doc’s stuffed animal friends include Stuffy, Lambie, Hallie, Squeakers, and Chilly, and together they lend a helping hand and give good advice for living a healthy lifestyle.
The creator of the show, Chris Nee, developed the series as a gift to her asthmatic son in an attempt to demystify doctors and ease all kids’ first visit worries to the doctor. Parents and kids alike love the show thanks to its positive messages and fun story line.
Thanks to these positive messages, Doc McStuffins makes for a great theme party idea for kids – whether you plan an impromptu playdate with a few friends or a larger birthday celebration.
So, celebrate your child with the most popular and adorable new doctor in town, Doc McStuffins using our fun ideas below for inspiration. No matter what you plan, just be sure to integrate the themes of healthy living, and helping and caring for others!
Announce the party by sending a “It’s Time for A Checkup” party invitation, asking guests to bring their favorite stuffed animal to Doc McStuffins’ backyard clinic for their annual checkup.
Depending on the formality of your party, you can send an actual paper invite or opt for a phone call from “the home office”.
In true Doc McStuffins style, try a healthy food makeover on traditional kids’ party favorites. Doc would be sure to approve!
Replace traditional pizza with a healthier version using whole grain English muffins or whole wheat pita breads, fat free sauce, and low fat mozzarella or parmesan cheese. Be sure to have lots of cut up veggies so guests can make their own. Consider green, red, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, broccoli and black olives for a colorful and healthy treat.
Replace the usual juice box with flavored water bottles. You can do this by mixing in fresh juices from oranges, kiwis, apples, peaches or lemons.
Replace high sugary sweets with fresher alternatives. For example, we made “cupcakes” from watermelon and yogurt, a birthday cake from waffles and berries, and frozen yogurt confetti.
A more interactive idea is to set up a fruit bar with clear separate bowls for each type of fruit. Cut up small bites of cantelope, watermelon, honeydew, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries. Use large serving spoons and let kids make their own fruit cocktail.
If you’re being good with the rest of your party menu, you could always add a bit of sweetness with this Doc McStuffins cupcake we made. Replace egg and oil in the box mix recipe with apple sauce to give it a healthier spin.
Doc McStuffins Party Ideas
Ask the guests to bring their favorite stuffed animal for a “Doc McStuffins” checkup. Buy a few extra kid lab coats and medical kits and have the kids take turns playing doctor.
Remember to give each patient a sticker after the checkup! If you have an outdoor or indoor playhouse clean it up and decorate to look just like Doc McStuffins’ backyard clinic.
Buy clipboards from your local office supply or dollar store and let kids decorate their own doctor clipboard with paint markers and stickers. Be sure to put each child’s name on the clipboard. Print out Doc McStuffins coloring pages and attach them to each board for doodling during the checkup.
