Easy Homemade Circle Banner Decoration

A few years ago for my sister's birthday I made a banner. It was my first attempt at a homemade banner and it turned out good, but not great. Recently my sister graduated from college and while planning her Smartie theme party I decided I'd take another shot at making a homemade banner.

Luckily, when I was shopping at my local craft store for paper supplies I came across the Permanent Glue Dots Dispenser® and I picked it up. Rather than struggling with tape or a stapler to secure the letters to the ribbon, the dispenser was so easy to use. Also, instead of scattered glue stains appearing on the white lettered paper, I got a finished look that was professional - no mess!

Supplies

Various cardstock cut into circle shapes
Ribbon
Letters for banner message printed from the computer
Permanent Glue Dots Dispenser®
X-Acto Knife

Directions

Step 1: Type out your banner message in a word program on your computer. Get creative with your fonts, just make sure letters are large enough and legible - this is a big celebration worthy of a big banner!

Step 2: Once you have your message typed out, trace a circle around each letter using a small saucer or other round object. Then, cut out each letter.

Step 3: Use a larger round object to trace out circles on the colored cardstock sheets. Make sure you have one for every letter and symbol in your message! Cut these out.

Step 4: Once you've got all your circles ready, use your Permanent Glue Dots Dispenser to adhere the letters to the cardstock. To do this, simply press and roll your dispenser down the sides of each of your lettered circles.

Step 5: Place the letters in the center of your colored circle and lightly run your fingers over to ensure they're securely attached to the cardstock.

Step 6: Once you've assembled your circles, use an X-Acto knife to make incisions on either end of the colored circles. This is how you'll thread the ribbon - you want these incisions to be wide enough to fit the ribbon, but not so wide that the circles won't hang evenly.

Step 7: Thread letters onto the ribbon in their proper order. Once all are added, arrange so they sit how you want them to. Secure the ribbon to the back of the cardstock by sticking a Permanent Glue Dot to the cardstock backs that touch it.
