These ice cream bon bon’s are a unique treat that will surprise everyone! Don’t be deceived by their simple and small appearance. They are a dessert recipe that takes some time, most of it being waiting time, but the effort is surely worth it.
Make these bon bon’s your own by choosing your favorite ice cream and topping the chocolate with any type of sprinkles you like. You can even take it one step further by covering the ice cream with white chocolate or different colored candy coatings.
1/2 pint Ice Cream (any flavor you prefer)
3 cups Chocolate Chips
Sprinkles, for decoration (Optional)
Remove the ice cream from the freezer and let it sit on the counter until softened. Evenly spread the ice cream in an 8-inch baking dish. Place in the freezer at least 5 hours to overnight.
Using a small round cookie cutter, cut rounds of ice cream out of the 8-inch baking dish. Place the ice cream rounds on a cold plate and then place it in the freezer to firm and harden, at least 3 more hours.
Once the ice cream has hardened, you can melt the chocolate.
To dip the ice cream, place one round on a fork and dip it into the chocolate. Working quickly, coat the ice cream completely with the chocolate. Place the ice cream on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Immediately sprinkle the top with sprinkles. Continue with the rest of the rounds. If the rounds starts to melt, place the ice cream back in the freezer to firm back up again.
When finished, place the bon bons back in the freezer to firm up with ice cream inside. Remove from the freezer when ready to serve.
