Play dough is an art staple and can inspire activities for kids that are all about shapes, color, texture and crafting - really, all kinds of imaginative play!

Our homemade play dough recipe is quick and easy, but it's also great because it teaches the kids a thing or two.

Not only is it probably the softest, most pliable dough you have ever felt, but it opens the door to discuss how adding things together can make something greater than the individual bits.

Oh yeah, and it's fun to play with! If your children are a bit older you may want to check out our glitter play-doh recipe, too!

Supplies

1 cup flour
1 cup boiling water
2 tbsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp oil
Food coloring

Directions

Mix together all your ingredients. Stirring at first and then once they are blended begin kneading the dough as it cools.

If you want to make multiple colors break the dough into pieces and roll into balls.

Insert your thumb into the center of each ball and then add a generous amount of food coloring.

Knead the food coloring into the dough until it is fully mixed in.

And there you have it... fabulous quick and easy homemade play dough!!
