Colorful icing will be the glue holding all of the decorations to the cookies. A basic royal icing mixed with a little food coloring will do the trick. Plan for at least three batches of icing: one red, one green and one white.
Ingredients
1 Lbs confectioner's sugar
2 Tbsp powdered egg whites
6-7 Tbsp water
1 Tsp food coloring
Directions
In a bowl using an electric mixer on low, beat together all of the ingredients until smooth
Increase the mixer speed to high and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
If preparing the night before, put icing into plastic containers and place in refrigerator.
