More Party Ideas

There are so many ways to make your summer party more eco-friendly this year. Incorporate a few DIY elements and repurpose or reuse a few items in your home to keep you party on a budget.

From the food to your place settings and centerpiece, you can host an eco-chic party this summer that your guests, and the earth, will really love.

Here are a few of my tips to make your table more green this season:

Start with Your Silverware

Core-Bamboo-UtencilsMiami Utensil Set - $15.00

In place of your good silverware, there are lots of options for environmentally safe utensils. I particularly love this set from the company, Core Bamboo. Not only are they made from 100% organic bamboo, they are 100% biodegradable and compostable!

The company makes it really easy to incorporate them into your tablescape because they come in fun, bright colors that can match any color scheme for your party.

Eat Like a Local

Serve food at your party that doesn't have to travel far to get to your table. Not only will you be supporting your local economy, but buying produce locally will save the environment from all of those harmful fossil fuels put into the enviroment through transportation and packaging. Organic food is also never sprayed with pesticides or herbicides.

Ditch the Paper & Plastic

Spring-DIY-Napkins

Instead of using paper or plastic lined napkins that are harmful to the earth, buy cloth napkins that are made from organic cotton or bamboo. You can reuse these for future parties or if you want to go the DIY route, you can purchase plain white ones and decorate them.

This DIY polka dot napkin craft is a cute example of how to spruce up those plain organic napkins. Reuse a wood or bamboo napkin ring you already have or simply wrap your napkin with twine for a more eco-chic look.

Include Natural Elements

I love the idea of having a live terrarium as a centerpiece for an eco-table. Repurpose an old candy jar, vase or glass container and fill it with ferns, foliage from your garden and small rocks. It's a great way to incorporate earthy elements into your tablescape.
