Cake pops are all the rage right now, but the prep can be time consuming and messy. Marshmallow pops are just as cute, no prep or mess required. Simply put a lollipop stick in a marshmallow, dip in chocolate and decorate. You can make them for any holiday by changing out the chocolate colors and edible decorations.
This tutorial uses conversation heart candies to decorate marshmallow pops for Valentine’s Day. Use edible shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day or red, white and blue sprinkles for the 4th of July. Try your hand at making witch marshmallow pops for Halloween. The possibilities are endless and so much fun!
White Chocolate Melts
Conversation Heart Candy
Step 1: Melt white chocolate melts in the microwave, according to package instructions. I recommend microwaving in 30 second intervals and stirring in between until melted.
Step 2: Place lollipop sticks in marshmallows and dip marshmallows in the chocolate, gently shaking off excess chocolate. Place the pop in floral foam to dry.
Step 3: Allow the marshmallow pops to semi-harden before placing a conversation heart candy in the center. You may have to hold the heart candy in place until it sets. You can also allow the marshmallow pop to dry completely and then add a dab of chocolate to the back of the conversation hearts before attaching to the pop.
These marshmallow pops make for the ideal treat for a class full of kiddies. Not only are they simple enough to make that turning out 20+ pops wouldn’t be too much, they’re also pretty crowd pleasing, so even the pickiest of eaters will appreciate the treat. In fact, they’re so simple to whip up, your own kids can help you out in the kitchen!
If you prefer, you can also use dark or milk chocolate candy to coat your marshmallows versus the white candy melts. While that may limit more of the color or design capabilities of your pop, it tastes just as delicious!
