Directions
For the eggs
An adult should prepare the egg. Tap the egg at the larger rounded end until you have a tiny hole. Pick away at the hole using your fingers until it is the size of a dime.
Empty the raw egg and gently rinse the inside with hot water.Place the egg on a bed of paper towels until the inside and outside are completely dry.
For the witch hat
Cut black cardstock into a 4-inch by 6-inch piece of paper. Roll the paper into a cone that will rest nicely on top of your egg. Secure the wrapped cardstock edge with double-stick tape. Trim the open edge of cone so the rim is level.
Place the cone, open side down, on a 5-inch black cardstock square. Trace around the cone, about 1-inch out from the cone’s bottom edge. Cut out the traced circle using the Fiskars scissors to give it a scalloped edge (this will be the hat’s brim).
An adult should use the craft knife to make an X in the center of the circle.
Apply double-stick tape to the inside opening of the cone. Center the cone on the circle and bend the triangles made by cutting the X up into the cone and against the tape to secure the brim to the hat.
Cut a strip of the yellow cardstock as trim around the base of the hat and use the Fiskars to cut a decorative edge on the trim. Apply the trim to the hat using double-stick tape.
For the witch hair
Cut a 5-inch square of orange cardstock. Create fringe for the witch hair by cutting 1/8-inch wide strips along the cardstock to 1/2-inch from the opposite edge (this way you have one piece of fringed cardstock as opposed to a bunch of skinny strips of paper!).
Fan-fold the fringe to give it a crimped appearance.
Apply double-stick tape to the inside opening of the hat and apply the hair.
For the witch body egg cuff
Cut black cardstock into a 1 1/2-inch wide by 6-inch long strip. Roll the strip to make a cuff for the egg to rest on and keep it closed with double-stick tape.
Cut green cardstock into a 1/2-inch wide by 6-inch long strip. Wrap the strip around the middle of the black cuff and attach it with double-stick tape.
Spell your guest’s name on the green strip using black letter stickers.
For the witch legs
Cut 2 (4-inch long by 3/4-inch wide) strips of orange cardstock. Fan-fold the strips for the witch legs. Cut 1/2-inch by 3/4-inch pieces of black cardstock and apply them to the orange strip using double-stick tape to give the appearance of striped stockings.
Trim the end of the witch legs into points for her shoes.
For the witch face
Punch 2 holes out of black cardstock and cut the punched-out holes in half.
Place the egg on the egg cuff and rest the witch hat on top.
Apply glue stick to the back of the black hole halfs and stick them to the witch for her eyes and mouth as in the photo.
Place this adorable Egg-Witch Place Card on a party table at your Halloween bash so each little guest knows where to sit!
