Fall Tailgating Guac-Off: Rules & Tips

Time to get this guac-off started! Use these tips you get your friends and family in on guacamole action!

Guac-Off Invitation and Entry Rules

There's really no limit to how large or small you can make your guac-off. Make your guest list and send an invitation with entry guidelines, but remember--this is all for fun.

Have participants RSVP under deadline as either a contender or taste-tester. Contenders should send the official name of their concoction--PENNY'S PICANTE HOT GUAC, for example--along with a recipe (to be compiled into a guac-book for a party favor).

Contenders should come to the party with a batch of guacamole (it might be helpful to set a quantity minimum of one cup) clearly labeled--this helps the hosts designate each contender, and ensures that everyone will get their own containers back!

Along with their guacamole, contenders must hand in their entry fee--the amount is up to the hosts, but we like $5 a pop.

Taste-testers should arrive with an empty stomach and an open mind!

Guac-off Winner's Trophy

In addition to the prize money, gift the winner a bag--a reusable produce shopping bag, to be specific--of ripe avocados and the title of Guacamole Master. If the Guac-off becomes a tradition, they'll hold the distinction of being the first winner in history!

Guac-off Party Favors

Before the party, compile everyone's guacamole recipes into the Ultimate Guac-Book and make copies for all attendees.

You may wish, as soon as the winner is announced, to place a gold star on the winning recipe.
