Fanned Linen Napkin Fold

This linen napkin fold is a great classic, but it is trickier than our first fold. With a few tries, this technique is easy to accomplish.

1. Fold the napkin in half

2. Fold small " accordion pleats up the long side of the napkin, and continue until you've folded 2/3 up from the bottom (leaving the top third flat, without accordion pleating).

3. With the accordion pleating on the outside and on the left (turn napkin to the right from the previous folding position), fold the napkin in half

4. Fold the top right corner down diagonally down to the base of pleats, and tuck about 1/2" underneath the edge.

5. Place the folded napkin on the table and let go of the pleats to allow the napkin to fan out fully. It helps to hold down the tail of the napkin while doing so.
