Gourmands from a variety of cultures have used flowers to garnish and flavor food for centuries. Recipes in Persian cuisine often call for rose water made from the flower's petals. And, lavendar has become a favorite of both American and British bakers for enhancing sugar and treats like shortbread. Many grocery stores sell food-grade Nasturtiums, colorful flowers that resemble pansies, in the produce section to add a floral touch to salads. Look for edible flowers in your local grocery store to accent dishes and never eat flowers without knowing that they are specifically for human consumption.

Make a gourmet appetizer in minutes by combining sweet and tart jam, robust cheese and edible flower petals.

Directions

  • Melt 1/4 cup of orange marmalade in the microwave and stir until smooth.
  • Cut the white rind off a small wheel of Camembert and place on a serving plate.
  • Spread 2 tablespoons of melted marmalade on top of the Camembert.
  • Arrange food-grade Nasturtiums on top of the Camembert, gently pressing the petals into the marmalade.
  • Glaze over the flowers and entire surface of Camembert with marmalade and serve with crackers.
