When I think of the 80’s I think of the music so choosing some of your favorite songs is an easy way to theme your cocktails. Up first, The Karma Chameleon Cosmopolitan! First I found a picture online of Boy George and then created a label for my bar using the image

George’s picture reminded me of the famous head of hair he’s known for so I decided to try and make a swizzle stick that invoked that imagery. I gathered a few strands of ribbon (literally what I had laying around) and stapled the ends together

I trimmed a straw to the height of my martini glass and inserted the ribbon ends into the end of the straw. No glue necessary, it held in place!

Next I whipped up the cosmo – vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice and cointreau to taste, shaken with some ice and then poured into my martini glass along with my homemade swizzle stick. If I was having a party I’d whip up a dozen of these in advance and place them on the bar or buffet along with my cute signage for guests to ooh and ahh over!

The 80’s also makes me think of Madonna, so this drink was a no-brainer! I simply weaved a strip of white lace and pearls that I found at the craft store, around the base of the martini glass. Once you’ve got the glass you can fill it with any white cocktail like a White Russian or a White Lady.

Again I made cute signage to go along with the drink... I think it’d be fun to do a bunch of signature drinks that were all Madonna songs like “Lucky Star”, “Vogue”, and “Papa Don’t Preach” each one could have their own themed glass and cute label!
