More Party Ideas

Getting your hands on a festive plate setting to display treats for your 2013 New Year’s Eve party needn’t require cheap plastic from the party store, nor overly expensive designs you can only use once from a pricier shop. This DIY 2013 cake stand tutorial is the only thing you need to get one in time for your party!

I adore cake stands, I use them for everything from cakes to party nibbles and this year my NYE bar will have a collection of cake stands on hand serving up a variety of party snacks to keep my guests happy well into the New Year. Making a DIY cake stand takes little crafting skills and even less effort, and you need very few supplies to pull off a stunning piece for a whole lot less.

Use this technique over and over again each year to get the date perfect each time!

Supplies:

1 Plate

1 Candlestick Holder

Scraper

Vinyl Letters

Crafting Glue

Directions:

Step 1: Using the scraper, scrape the number onto the plate with the sticky side to the top of the glass plate and the clear plastic on the top of the number.

Step 2: Once the number is secure, gently peel away the plastic to reveal the number attached to the glass plate.

Step 3: Apply a thin coat of crafting glue to the top of the candlestick holder and secure the under side of the plate to the top of the candlestick, firmly pressing the two together. Finally, allow everything to dry for 1- 2 hours before using, overnight is better!
