Halloween Costume Craft: Gumball Machine

What could be cuter than this super-easy gumball costume?  The gumball machine is a traditional object of childhood fantasy, its brightly colorful globes offering sweet respite from a boring trip to the mall or the doctor.

Supplies

Large clear plastic trash bag
Scissors
Clear Packing tape
12 Balloons varied colors
Red skirt + red beret

Directions

Step 1: Start by laying the trash bag on the floor and cutting appropriately-sized arm and neck holes into the bag.  It may be easiest to have your child lie down on top of the bag so you can estimate the proper size and placement. 

Step 2: With your child's help, inflate all of the balloons.

Step 3: Have your child put on the red skirt, white tights, and white turtleneck. (Layering is a good idea for cold outdoor trick-or treating, since no coat will fit over this outfit! Add a white sweater or a warm, thick undershirt.  Those Halloween nights can get frosty!)

Step 4: With your very careful supervision, your child should don the plastic bag.  Use tape to make sure if fits securely around the arms and neck. 

Step 5: Start stuffing balloons into the bag, and when you've finished, seal off the bottom with tape.
