Get creative with your decorations and transform your house into a haunted mansion. Hang cobwebs, orange and black streamers, ghosts, witches, goblins, and pumpkins all throughout your house so that your guests can enjoy this festive holiday!
Hire a DJ
Have your DJ set the mood of the party by playing classic Halloween tunes, such as "The Monster Mash" and "Thriller." This will get your guests excited about the party and encourage them to bust out some moves on the dance floor!
Be Festive
Serve all of your food and beverages in orange and black serving materials.
Costumes, costumes, costumes!
Make it mandatory for all of your guests to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes.
Make your staff come all dressed in the same costume. Since all of your guests will be in costumes as well, having your staff all dressed in the same costume will make it easy for guests to identify who they should talk to if they need a drink or have a question.
Dress your pets in costume as well. Last year I dressed my miniature shih tzu, Lulu Flynn, as Little Mermaid.
Always remember to have extra costumes on hand in case someone forgets to wear one.
Spooky Lighting
Replace the light bulbs in your house with orange colored light bulbs for the night. In one of the rooms, make it completely black except for a small glow-in-the dark light so that you guests feel like they are in a haunted house.
Spooky Sound Effects
In the all black room, have a soundtrack of ghost screams and goblin noises playing in the background.
Chic Tip - for an extra bonus, hide a fog machine behind your front door so that when your guests enter your house, they are immediately greeted with a spooky welcoming!
