With just a few supplies you can create a floral lei or garland for your Hawaiian luau. And, with just a little guidance, the kids can easily put these together and will have fun making them for the party guests.
We loved the bright pink and orange colors from the Pear Tree Greetings luau invitation we sent out, and used them here to inspire our handmade Hawaiian lei.
Supplies
Materials
cardstock in tropical colors
drinking straws
twine or thin ribbon

flower punch
hole punch

Directions

Step 1: Punch about 18-20 flower shapes from cardstock and then using the hole punch, punch a hole in the center of each flower. Set aside
Step 2: Cut the drinking straws into 1 inch lengths--about 20 pieces for each lei.
Step 3: Cut a 30-inch length piece of twine.
Step 4: Thread each flower shape alternately with pieces of the straws onto the twine. Tie the ends together to form a wreath.
