Happy St. Patrick's Day: Mark Addison on BetterTV

Mar 14, 2011

Check Celebrations Expert Mark Addison out on BetterTV! Mark shares his how-to for some festive St. Patrick's Day recipes, cocktails and table decor tips.

He took some inspiration from his Irish roots, and created a magical Shamrock inspired party that any leprechaun would love!

Decorations

Mark starts off with some basic white plates and serve ware and adding a touch of green to it. Using a non-toxic food coloring spray and a shamrock, he created a little shamrock design on the basic plates.

Next step is napkins. Take a basic white fabric napkin and decorate with festive green florets. It's a fun and easy way to really dress up the table.

Food

What you serve at a party can really make or break the event. You have to serve foods that are easy to eat, simple to clean up, and make sure you are choosing flavors that all of your guests can enjoy.

Start off with Mark's Green and Blue Irish Balls. They are festive, tasty, and easy to make! Just take a grape, roll it in Blue Cream Cheese (an Irish staple), and top it off by rolling the balls in pistachio nuts. Yum!

For the main course, Mark whips up some delicious Irish Meat Pies which he serves on a stick. Haven't heard of serving food on a stick yet? It's one of the most popular ways to serve foods and desserts - guests love it because it's easy to eat, and you'll love it because it's easy to clean!

Add some sweetness to your menu with Drunken Cake Balls - which are spiked with Guiness and Baileys. Top the dessert menu off with some "straight from Ireland" inspired Blarney Scones.

Drinks

Next to the food, drinks are the one of the most important things to consider when making your event menu. For this Shamrock inspired menu, Mark created an Irish Milkshake, then followed it with 3 "Lucky Cocktails".

Making your Irish Milkshake is easy. It's simply a regular milkshake recipe, but instead of Root Beer spike it with Stout Beer. Then, top it with mint flavored Bailey's!

Ensure a hit party by serving up these delicious Lucky Cocktails. First, the Lucky Leprauchan is a simple mixture of Midori and Carasel. Simple, yet refreshing. For a more serious drinker, the follow it up with the Lucky Rainbow which is a drink consisting of Layered Flavored Vodka. The Lucky Rainbow then leads you to the Pot of Gold which is a delicious and elegant drink rimmed with 24 Karat gold and topped with Gold Processo. Enjoy!
