Healthy Chickpea Dip Recipe

Garbanzo beans, also commonly referred to as chickpeas, have got great texture, a subtle taste that enhances, rather than overpowers, and are super versatile, which makes them a perfect base for a healthy Super Bowl dip recipe.

Here, we've mixed in some dried and fresh herbs, along with some citrus and garlic vegetable flavors to make a savory, spicy, sweet and all around scrumptious dip that will satisfy hungry game day fans without leaving them feeling guilty the next day for indulging!

Ingredients

1 can of garbanzo beans, rinsed, drained and blended
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon grated garlic
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 cup red onion, red pepper, sauteed and chopped*

Directions

Rinse and drain your garbanzo beans, then blend them. Go for whatever texture you prefer - we like ours chunkier! If you find the beans are a bit dry, add in a few drops of olive oil or water to moisten them up.

Once blended, place the bean mixture into your serving bowl. Add to it the chili powder, ground cumin, grated garlic, cilantro, lemon juice and red pepper and onion mixture.

Mix well, then serve alongside some pita chips!

*Saute your finely chopped red pepper and red onion in a teaspoon of olive oil. Sprinkle in some garlic powder if you like!
