Here a few helpful tips that I have found very useful when creating hors d'oeuvres menus.

  • Always make your hors d'oeuvres bite size. Your guests don't want to have to deal with the fuss of having to hold onto a plate throughout the entire party.
  • Stay away from using skewers and toothpicks in your hors d'oeuvres. These items are a hassle for guests who then have to find a trashcan to dispose of them.
  • Avoid serving soup and other food dishes that require glassware to serve. Renting and washing dishes can become very expensive and is not worth the cost.
  • Don't serve items, such as crab cakes, that will make your breath smells. Your guests won't want to have to worry about their breath during the party.

CHIC TIP: A good cocktail napkin always adds a nice touch when serving hors d'oeuvres.
