Homemade Apple Sauce

Apple sauce is great as a snack or a dessert. If you've never tried to make your own recipe, then try cooking up this simple, healy treat that takes 10 minutes to prepare and 25 to cook. What's great about this recipe is that it's suitable for all ages! At a dinner party, serve it with atop porkchops or as a dessert, for the younger kids this is a great lunchbox surprise and with the propper adjustments this recipe is great as baby's first food!

Ingredients:

3 pounds of fuji, mcintosh or gala apples, peeled and chopped into large chunks (about 10 pieces per apple)

4 pieces of lemon rind (use a vegetable peeler)

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoons cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/4 cup water

Note: Serves 4

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer, cover the pot and cook for 25-30 minutes (until apples are very soft).

Mash your mixture with a potato masher or blend with an immersion blender.

Allow the mixture to cool before serving.
