We love serving French onion soup at our dinner parties. Try this easy to make recipe and we promise you'll love it, too!
5 large onions, thinly sliced (Vidalia)
4 tablespoons butter
4 10 ounce cans of beef broth
1/2 cup dry sherry
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
A dash of pepper
6 slices french bread or country bread toasted
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
8 thick slices of Gruyere
Cut your bread into 1 inch slices. Toast until golden brown and set aside.
Cook onions in butter until tender, but not brown. Add broth, sherry, Worcestershire sauce and pepper, and bring to a boil.
Pour into individual ovenproof bowls. Cover each with a piece of French bread, Parmesan and Gruyere. Place under broiler and heat until cheese bubbles.
