Giving your hostess a set of handmade soaps infused with her favorite scent is a great way to keep saying thank you long after the party has finished. Unlike traditional soap making, glycerin soap making is non-toxic, simple and can be done in under an hour, making this a great last minute gift idea for a busy party season. I opted for a Mojito inspired soap scent using natural ingredients, but there are an infinite number of possibilities for this DIY gift.
I wrapped my soap in brown paper and used a thread of green wire to accent it to keep the natural and green theme, but placing them in a clear bag with a ribbon will pull off the same spring clean look.
Supplies:
1 cube of glycerin soap
1 soap-molding tray
1 grater
1 Lime
Handful of fresh mint
Directions:
Step 1: Grate the glycerin soap until you have a large mound of shavings – you can always shave more if you find that your mound does not fill the entire mold (Once you grate the soap, it has to be used so start with a big mound, and then add to it if needed). And then add it to a large glass-mixing bowl.

Follow steps 2 & 3 to create the same mojito mix I made or replace the ingredients with your own concoction and skip to step 4.
Step 2: Zest 1 lime and place it in your mixing bowl with the glycerin shavings.

Step 3: Finely chop the mint leaves until you have thin shavings, if chopping is not your strong point, blitz it in a food processor until you have a fine consistency and then add it to the mixing bowl.
Step 4: The glycerin bar will offer you cooking instructions – the first is to microwave the blend and then stirring it half way through, the second option of a double boil is the option I used.
By double boiling the blend you can ensure it has an even consistency and that the herbs and citrus blend well together. The double boiling took under 3 minutes to go from thick shavings to a liquid soap.

Step 5: Once melted, pour the soap into your soap molds and allow them to rest at room temperature for 10 minutes. (Optional: To avoid the air bubbles that appear at the bottom of the soap, use a spatula to gently scrape them away to give your soap a clean finish.

Step 6: After 10 minutes resting on the counter, place them in the fridge for up to an hour; they will begin to harden almost immediately. Once hard, package them and hand deliver to your hostess!
