Help your kids create their own Homework Kit with all the things they need to complete their assignments and have a successful year at school to celebrate next summer!
As kids, when coming home after a long day at school it was hard to get motivated to do yet more schoolwork when all we wanted was to relax and have fun. To turn homework time into less of a chore and more of a fun activity, it takes a bit of creativity on behalf of mom, dad, grandma or whoever helps with it.
This is a simple, personalized project that encourages kids to get organized and to get excited for homework.
We filled our box with pencils, crayons, scissors, tape, markers, and a ruler, but fill yours with whatever supplies your child will need most.
When it's time to do their homework, they can grab their kit and get the job done! Kids will have fun personalizing their kit and the items they put inside of it.
Small plastic box
Step 1: Help your child apply Washi tape to the front of the box. Add stickers to identify it as a Homework Kit.
Step 2: Let your child personalize the outside of their kit to their liking. This child chose a favorite picture from a special summer vacation and adhered it to the box with strong adhesive.
Step 3: Use the Washi tape to customize and label the school supplies in your kit. We made Washi tape flags for our pencils and pens, embellished some mechanical pencils and labeled the crayon box. This also serves to identify all of the supplies that belong in the kit so they can be placed there after each use and ready for the next round of homework.
