Housewarming Cookies

Contributor

Sugar cookies come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors, much like homes, which is why these sweet little housewarming cookies make the perfect little treat for new homeowners.

Whether you are hosting or merely a guest at a housewarming, these dainty little houses are sure to bring a bit of whimsy to any home.

Create marvelous mansions with extraordinary details, or furnish simple apartments with just as a little bit of icing, either way these houses are sure to make sweet homes.

Supplies:

1 batch of your favorite sugar cookie dough

House cookie cutter or template

Royal icing in various colors

Sprinkles or nonpareils

Directions:

Cut out cookies and bake according to direction, allow to cool before attempting to decorate, about 15 minutes.

Using a thin-tipped icing tube outline your cookies, touching up any broken lines with your finger or a small paintbrush. Flood or fill the cookie with matching or contrasting icing until it is completely coated, let sit for 5 to 10 minutes, or until dry.

Here is where you can get creative using different shaped and sized decorating tips, icing colors and sprinkles. Nonpareil covered chocolate wafers make excellent shingles for roofs, and cinnamon imperials work well as doorknobs. The most important part about cookie decorating is to have fun, be creative, and hurry up before the icing hardens!
