If you are going with a potluck menu as suggested above, then you, as the party host, should provide the drinks.

Set up the bar on your kitchen countertop. Most "spills" happen when one is pouring their drink and kitchen surfaces are easier to clean than a new living room carpet.

Keep items like wine and beer in the refrigerator instead of a wine bucket or cooler that would need to be replenished with ice throughout the party.

Use fun disposable drink glasses to make clean up quick, and consider renting wine glasses if you can't fathom the thought of sipping wine in plastic.

Serve a signature cocktail and give it a thematic title like "Mi Casa Margaritas" or "Home Sweet Home Sangria" as a cheeky homage to your new place.
