It's always easy to incorporate a theme into a kid's birthday party. Between princesses, pirates and favorite characters, there are a ton of choices. Plus, themed paper partyware found at local party stores makes it pretty budget-friendly as well.
So, how do you make an adult's birthday celebration special when these party supplies just won't cut it? We like the idea of building a theme for the birthday celebration around a color.
We decided to use the guest of honor's favorite color as the base for the Orange Theme Party we threw recently.
Here are some tips on how to create a color scheme without overdoing it.
Begin by looking around your home for dishes, linens and embellishments that fit with your color of choice. If supplies on hand are limited you can also easily add colorful accents by tying ribbon around vases and candlestick holders.
Fill the vase with flowers in your color palette and the candlestick holders with candles.
For our Orange Theme Party we incorporated a dish with orange slices and candies to the center of the tables.
Balloons and streamers, which are super inexpensive and available in nearly every color imaginable, are another budget-friendly way to add pops of your color to the party space. We tied an orange balloon with streamers to the guest of honor's chair.
Gifts are usually a given at any birthday celebration. For this party, ask guests to wrap presents in orange and use them as a decorative element. Stack the gifts and display them as a centerpiece!
Finally, the key to dressing your celebration in color without overdoing it is by using various shades, patterns and layers. Our party's table is a good example of how to pull this off.
