If crafting with glitter has always seemed like a messy endeavor, you haven't discovered the Mod Podge glitter paint technique. Mixing glitter with the glue makes crafting incredibly simple and produces way less mess than simply painting on the glue and dumping the glitter on top of the object.

The great thing about combining the Mod Podge and glitter together to form a paint is how simple it makes applying the material to assorted surfaces. Round, square, textured, thick and thin objects can all be glittered with less fuss.

Additionally, Mod Podge glitter paint allows you to control the amount of glitter you apply to the surface better since you're not simply dumping a bunch of it onto the object.

And last, but perhaps best, mixing the Mod Podge and glitter together gives you a more final/set finish to whatever you're trying to embellish with glitter. There's no worry of glitter falling or chipping off!

How to Make Mod Podge Glitter Paint

The process to create this paint and use it is simple. More or less the most important part is determining the perfect ratio of Mod Podge to glitter that will work for you.

Supplies:

Mod Podge

American Crafts Glitter

Sponge paint brush

Newspaper

Glass bowl

Directions:

First, mix your Mod Podge and glitter. We found the best way to do this was in a glass bowl as it made clean up easier.

For a thicker coating of glitter, you'll want a higher ratio of the glitter to the Mod Podge and vice versa for a thinner coating.

Make sure whatever surface you'll be applying the glitter glue to is clean. We were able to coat glass, wax candles, metals, plastic, paper and wood.

Dip your sponge paint brush into the Mod Podge/glitter mix and apply a first coat using even strokes. You can certainly use a regular paint brush, but we found the sponge brush to produce the most even application.

Allow the first coat to set and dry before applying a second coat.

For certain surfaces we required fewer coats of paint than others, but the best rule of thumb is to apply until you're happy with the look.
