These tie dye cupcakes couldn't be easier to make. In fact we actually bought ready made cupcakes with white icing from the bakery, and then just did the decorating ourselves. This shortcut is an easy way to add cupcakes to your kids birthday party without taking up too much of your time before the party starts. By purchasing pre-made cupcakes and decorating them yourself, you'll save time and money!

We served some on the dessert table and had extras so that the children could decorate their own. They loved doing it and was another fun activity at the party.

What You Need

Prepared cupcakes topped with white icing
Three or Four tubes of decorator gel -- different colors
Wooden skewers

Step 1: Begin by squeezing the gel onto the cupcake in either circular patterns or stripes. Use several colors for the best tie dye effect.

Step 2: Using a wooden skewer, start from the center, or outer edge and begin dragging it through the gel and icing. The gel colors will begin to overlap and combine giving the proper effect.
