How to Throw a HALF Birthday Party!

Smack dab in the middle of January, my birthday invariably falls on the coldest day of the year. For those of us--both young and not so young--who have envied other kids' birthday parties thrown outside under the summer sun, let this be the year we celebrate our HALF birthdays! Here's a few ideas to get you started thinking halfsies!

• Make half invitations or cut ready-made invites in half.
• Make a half birthday cake; or order one from the bakery and cut it in half, serving one side at a time.
• Pre-light the birthday candles so theyre half gone when you present the cake!
• BBQ burgers and serve on buns, and then cut them in half, of course. (But offer two.)
• If youre throwing a half-birthday for someone else, suggest that guests bring half gifts. Half-used items as gag gifts for adults or, for kids, one gift split up into two boxes/bags.
• Sing only the last half the birthday song!

These are just a few ideas, but you can let your imagination run wild. And remember, just because it's a half birthday doesn't mean it can't be a whole lot of fun!
