Making Indian headdresses inspires creativity with kids because they must use their imaginations.

In addition to basic art supplies, you may want to have beads, ribbon and feathers on hand to help fulfill their imaginations. When completed, the headdresses make great props for after-dinner skits.

Supplies

  • stiff paper to use as band
  • feathers (real or made from construction paper)
  • glue
  • scissors
  • markers
  • beads for embellisment

Directions

  • Help each child cut a strip of stiff paper that will fit around his or her head. (Use a tape measure to get the length.)
  • Encourage kids to draw, glue and embellish the paper to get the look they want.
