Lamb Gyro Burger Recipe

More Party Ideas

Gyros are such a classic Greek food, but if you're intimidated by working with lamb, try this burger alternative. It incorporates the flavorful meat in a less intense way and will better allow you to cook to perfection. With the list below, you'll still get all the flavors you'd typically find in a gyro-style lamb meat and the cucumber sauce is the piece de resistance!

Ingredients:

For the Lamb Burger

1 pound ground lamb

1 tablespoon all-purpose Greek Seasoning

Pita bread pockets

Lettuce

Tomato slices

Crumbles Feta cheese

Cucumber Sauce

For Cucumber Sauce

4 ounces light sour cream

1/2 cucumber, peeled and grated

1 small garlic clove, minced

1/4 teaspoon dried dill

1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:

For Burger

Combine ground lamb and Greek seasoning until well seasoned. Divide into 4 patties, shaping into ovals instead of rounds. Cook over medium heat until no longer pink inside, about 5-6 minutes each side.

Fill pita pocket with lamb patty and add lettuce, tomato, and cucumber sauce.  Sprinkle feta cheese on top and enjoy.

For Cucumber Sauce

Drain and pat dry grated cucumber. Add to sour cream and combine in a small bowl.

Stir in remaining ingredients and cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours so flavors can blend.
