Just because it's cold out doesn't mean you can't host a theme party that will turn up the heat. What could be better than spending a Saturday night with your friends than an adult only luau party full of fun decor, great food and of course, themed cocktails.
Stick with the same color palate throughout your party to really bring your theme to life!
Use Vibrant Colors
Set up your dinner table or buffet with vibrant, earthy colors like reds, oranges and greens. Lay a floral tablecloth down with pretty flowers and play off the colors in the fabric to decorate the rest of your table and party. Matching plats, napkins and cocktails to your luau theme will really pull the party together.
Mix and Match
Don't be afraid to mix up your plates and silverware. Have a little fun and try using a round wooden plate or large charger. Pair a solid deep red square plate on top to mix up the style and color of your table setting. You can use silverware with imitation bamboo handles (pictured above) or we love the idea of using real bamboo forks and spoons.
Make a lei by stringing several blooms together through the base and out through
the top of the flower.
Set Up a Lei-Making Station
Making a lei is an easy activity and something guests would really love doing together. All you need to do is set up a table with a bunch of orchid blooms, a few needles (one per guest) and thread or fishing line. Instruct your guests to simply pull a needle through the base of each bloom. The blooms will line up nicely on top of each other to form a lei. (See picture above).
Place a candle in a wooden bowl or votive and arrange a few orchids around
it for a pretty DIY addition to your table.
Take Time For Detail
Take time to put some extra detail throughout your party. We love using fresh flowers, especially for a luau theme. Cymbidium orchids are great to use because one stem has several blooms that you can use to decorate your napkins, cocktails or create your own DIY candle centerpiece (pictured above).
Wrap a large leaf with string or twine around a cocktail glass
and adorn it with a single orchid to add a special Hawaiian touch.
Keep Your Drinks Simple
Signature cocktails don't have to be too fancy. Stick with what you know your guests will love. A Mai Tai, Pina Colada, or Blue Hawaiian are always great choices for a party and drinks guests will definitely enjoy.
