Make a Rose Wreath

Karen Perkins
Contributor

The winning horse in the Kentucky Derby is draped with a wreath of roses around its neck. Kids can recreate the coveted wreath on a smaller scale to take home as souvenirs. Parents or other adults could also make these to give out as prizes in a hat contest or horse race.

Supplies

  • small foam craft wreath
  • red ribbon
  • hot glue gun or white craft glue (if kids will work independently)
  • artificial roses
  • small wooden or chipboard letters

Directions

  • Wrap foam wreath in red ribbon gluing each end to secure.
  • Glue artificial roses around the wreath.
  • Glue letters on the front of the wreath spelling out kids' names or a type of prize.
