Make Envelopes for Homemade Birthday Cards

If you take the time to make a great birthday card, it would be a shame to tuck it into a boring white envelope. Use the directions to make a matching envelope that is as fun to open as reading the card itself.

If you have already have an envelope in a size that fits your card, simple unglue the flaps and trace it onto a sheet of paper. Or, simply find a template online.

Directions for Making a Homemade Envelope for a Birthday Card

  • Lay a sheet of scrapbook paper on a flat surface and place the card on top.
  • Supplies:
    12 x 12 scrapbooking paper
    Glue
    Scissors
  • Cut around the card leaving a 1-inch border on the bottom and sides, and 2-inch border at the top.
  • Fold and crease the paper around the card, then flatten it out.
  • Cut out the corners of the piece of paper and fold the flaps back down.
  • Lay the envelope on top of another sheet of scrapbook paper. Trace and cut out a shape to use as the backing.
  • Using glue on the flaps, attach the front and back pieces.
  • Insert your card, and seal the envelope with a sticker.
