What would a Super Mario party be without games? Instead of playing the actual video game, party guests can take part in mini-games of their own. Photo Credit: "Shy Guy Says" from Mario Party Wiki EntryInspired by Mario Party, here are a few of our favorite mini games to play.

Coin Hunt: Instead of collecting Easter eggs, collect gold coins. Before the party starts, hide coins throughout the space. Then, let the kids run wild looking for all the coins they can find. Just make sure to note how many coins are hidden so you know when theyve all been found!

Shy Guy Says: Based off of the popular Simon Says, this mini game has players raise flags to match the one raised by Shy Guy. Equip each child with two flags - one white, one red. These can be as simple as red and white fabric squares.

More than likely they will already understand how to play, but remind them of the rules so there is no confusion. Instruct them to watch Shy Guy (have another adult play this role so you can act as referee) and raise the flag that he raises. Start out easy, but then make it more challenging. For instance, in the game there is a time frame of a few seconds in which players must get the proper flag raised. Also, Shy Guy sometimes raises both flags to confuse players, and then at the last second drops one.

Hot Bob-omb: This is classic Hot Potato played with a Hot-Bob-omb character from Super Mario. Craft a fake Bob-omb using a black balloon. Then have the kids pass it around in a circle to Mario music. Each time the music stops the player holding the Bob-omb is out.

Coin Block Blitz: Although players in this mini game must punch blocks with their heads to get coins, you can recreate this without the hitting and still have fun. Our suggestion? Purchase a Mario pinata, that does not require a stick from Celebrate Express and fill it with a bunch of goodies!
